Requirements of the CUATRO Program
Students will work in their faculty mentor’s research laboratory to conduct research throughout the year (spring, summer and fall). During the application process, students will have the opportunity to express their interests in particular research projects and/or mentors but will be assigned a research laboratory during the review process.
The CUATRO Program 2023 will begin Spring Semester 2023. In Spring 2023, students are required to register for 1 research credit with their faculty mentor in the Department of Biology or the Department of Chemistry. During the summer, students will be required to work in their research laboratories for 8 weeks, approximately 20-30 hours per week; summer stipends are $2,000 and students must coordinate with their faculty mentors when they will be working. In the Fall 2023, students will again be required to register for 1 research credit with their faculty mentor in the Department of Biology or the Department of Chemistry. In addition, each student will present their research at the annual College of STEM Student Research Symposium.
Throughout the year, students are expected to attend monthly CUATRO meetings and attend weekly lab meetings run by their faculty mentors (day and time to be decided by faculty mentors). In addition, there may be additional meetings with your peer mentor and/or your faculty mentor throughout the year as needed.
